PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
What is the Mora Alternative Program?
MAP is a non-traditional program designed for students who have dropped out of
school and want a high school diploma.

The program provides individual instructional plans for each student and
one-to-one tutoring.  Staff members assist students in meeting graduation
requirements, improving basic skills, and developing job seeking skills.

Who may attend MAP?
MAP accepts students who are sixteen or older and have completed ninth grade
and/or who have not been successful in a traditional school setting.

How is MAP an alternative to the traditional system?
*MAP's calendar varies from the regular school year.  Classes are offered
between 7:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M., one evening a week, and additional days
beyond the regular school calendar.
*Students, with instructors, set their own daily schedules.
*Students may enroll at any time.
*Students are not scheduled to attend on Friday.
*Fridays are reserved for make-up time, interviews, and staffing sessions.
*Students work independently and at their own level and pace.
*Instruction is individualized.
*Students obtain credit in weekly units.
*Students may be any age 16 and over.
*Students can earn credit toward graduation from non-class activities.

When does a student graduate from MAP?
Students may graduate when satisfactory completion of graduation requirements
are met.  Mora High School grants diplomas to students who complete
requirements.  Students may graduate at the alternative program whenever they
are finished, or they may go through the traditional graduation ceremony in
the spring.

Can a student graduate from their home district?
Students wishing to graduate from their home districts must make special
arrangements with the MAP instructional team and their home districts.

How does a student enroll?
Individuals would complete an application form and go through an interview and
assessement with MAP staff.  Acceptance into the program could then occur when
there is an opening.
