K-M Alternative Learning Center serves students in the Kasson-Mantorville school district.
Goals: To increase the percentage of K-M area students earning a high school diploma.
K-M ALC provides an alternative for students who have academic social
and/or emotional
difficulties in the traditional school program.
K-M ALC provides a learning opportunity for students who have previously
withdrawn from
school and are not yet twenty-one.
This program is offered in conjunction with the hours, days, and months
of the traditional high
school. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.. Monday- Thursday; Friday-
make-up day.
The program is staffed with full-time and part-time teachers and a paraprofessional.
Course offerings include: Art, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies,
Sciences, Work Skills,
Applied Computer.
K-M ALC has a strong working relationship with the traditional high
school. An ALC
committee consisting of the teaching staff, guidance counselor, program
director, and principal
determine the policy for the learning center.
